Why Revellup?

Revellup was started as a response to the challenge of getting into digital marketing without experience.

As an outsider, there’s a notion that to get into digital, you need a degree and marketing accreditations under your belt.

As insiders we know it’s not like that.

Mostly we get in to the industry with a smidgeon of practical knowledge in one thing and the scantiest knowledge of everything else (marketing is a very broad church). You couldn’t blame friends and family for assuming we got in based on great timing and a lot of luck.

And within months, without any grand plan, these same new marketers will move on to their second even more lucrative role, building a fairly recession-proof career and creating a dreamy lifestyle unique to them.

So how do we do it?

Well – it isn’t luck that’s for sure, but it’s not as tricky as you’t think if you can follow some signposts, and that’s why we’ve created Revellup

Stop by Revellup for a few months or weeks and we will give you all the luck you need to get started. We’ll give you just enough knowledge, confidence and practice that the industry craves to give you a leg up on the start of what will we hope be an exciting career.

“Meaningful work experience for all?
They say it can’t be done. I hope I’m right.”

— Caroline Revell, Founder

Digital marketing and IT are two of the most rapidly expanding industries in today’s world. With the proliferation of technology and the internet, these fields have become indispensable for businesses to thrive in the modern market. However, breaking into these industries without prior experience can be a daunting task.

One of the primary hurdles of entering digital marketing and IT jobs without experience is the fierce competition. These industries are highly sought-after, with a multitude of individuals vying for the same positions. Without a background in the field, it can be challenging to distinguish yourself from the masses and persuade employers to take a chance on you.

Another obstacle is the absence of practical experience. Digital marketing and IT are hands-on fields that necessitate a certain degree of technical proficiency. Without experience, it’s impossible to demonstrate that you possess the requisite skills to excel in these roles. No company wants to lose tens of thousands of pounds in a software project or advertising account under your watch.

For the potential mistakes and lack of time to supervise, employers understandably favour candidates with a proven track record in any related responsibility before they offer a seat at the table, even when it’s a low level position.

They want evidence that you have successfully executed projects and delivered results, ideally where there was a level of risk involved. And without a warts- and-all background with evidence to back your claims up, it will be challenging to prove you can live on the edge in these exciting industries and deliver.

To surmount the challenges, the obvious route is via an internship or entry-level position to gain invaluable hands-on experience and aid you in honing your skills.

And there’s nothing wrong with reaching out to professionals for advice, our inboxes are flooded with sales pitches so it’s nice to get a genuine request for help from a real person.

Whether you go all out for an internship, an apprenticeship, bang on the doors of anyone who might help you or join our Revellup family, I wish you the very best time creating your own luck!
